Blacksad: Somewhere Within The Shadows
This tale of "greek drama for the working class" is a take on the hard-boiled private eye tale. Filled with booze, endless cigarettes, and the finer furnishings of your classic noir caper, John Blacksad paws at this yarn of woe and tragedy until it unravels into damnation and violence. Who is John Blacksad? Well, he's our hero protagonist in the form of a six-foot black cat, who wears a suit and tie and smiles to make ya melt, only to hit you with a left hook that'll leave your kidney screaming. This here is a crime tale pulled straight outta the mid-twentieth century and presented to you with an all anthropomorphic animal cast. Containing art that'll drop your jaw and dialogue that burns like a cigarette waiting for you to finish it, Blacksad is an unsung triumph of the downtrodden word of animal noir.
Damn fine stuff. Damn Fine.
Joining me today is the baritone brilliance of Brian Bode, a man that's taught me many things, not the least of which the the appreciate for the hard-boiled world of crime noir. He'll probably end up teaching you a thing or two about a thing or two as well.
